AgroMeteorological products

Meteorological charts based on satellite information for the Farming Industry

SUR Emprendimientos Tecnológicos is associated with the Farming consulting company ScanTerra and together we have developed the AgroMeteorological products.

Generated with satellite images from NASA and NOAA, and state-of-the-art image processing technology, the AgroMeteorological Products offer detailed and reliable information about weather and crop status.

Choose the products within your interest area. Receive them every day, every ten days or monthly in your e-mail or FTP server.

The AgroMeteorologicals Products are provided in standard georeferenced graphical digital format, and can be easily integrated into your Geographical Information System (GIS).

Frost

Calculated just before the dawn, the coldest moment of the day, this product shows in a map all locations/places where the ground temperature descends at or below 0”ĘC (considered as frost) with an error margin of just 1”ĘC. When frost occurs, this product allows the estimation of the crop affected, to evaluate the areas where the crop could have received damage and to demonstrate the magnitude of the frost to a potential third party. The insurers use it to calculate the event anticipating their costumers and to calculate the amount of affected insured clients.

NDVI Composite

This product is a green vegetation index map that allows knowing in a reliable way the vigor of the vegetation being mapped. The index takes values from 0 to 1, where a value above 0.3 means active vegetation. With this product it is possible to know the crop status and to identify areas affected by drought, frost, floods and other plagues and diseases.

NDVI Composite difference

This product shows the changes in the crop vigor between two successive periods, by means of the difference map derived from two NDVI index composites.

Accumulated precipitations

The precipitations play a fundamental role in the farming production. By means of an innovating technique based on satellite information from the NASA, this product reliably shows the precipitations accumulated every ten days or every month with a level of detail without precedents. This product is much superior in reliability, regularity and level of detail with respect to the old precipitation maps that interpolate the data obtained from meteorological stations.

Daily precipitations

Based on satellite information provided by the NASA, this product indicates the precipitations occurred in the last 24 hours every day of the year. Users get this product every morning with precise and detailed information of precipitations occurred until that moment. Daily precipitations map is ideal for decision makers who need to have precise and immediate knowledge of precipitations in order to evaluate in which way it affects the markets or to plan operative tasks like fumigation, sowing, fertilization, general logistic, etc.

Air Temperature

The temperature is a key indicator to determine, altogether with other variables like NDVI and precipitations, if the crop undergoes on hydric stress or if it is growing in favorable conditions. This product is the result from processing data obtained from NASA satellites, achieving a superior ground detail and precision compared to the old air temperature maps based on networks of meteorological stations. It is calculated every day from data obtained near the noon and then integrated in one unique 10-day composite map obtaining both absolute maximum temperature and an average of the maximum temperature for each 10-day period and for the whole month.
